Flow with Matter
Shanghai Minsheng Art Museum2020
Curated by Ma Nan, CAA Art Museum, Hangzhou
Flow with Matter was a mid-career retrospective in Minsheng Art Museum, one of Shanghai's largest museums
focusing on contemporary art. The exhibition is curated by Ma Nan, who besides her own practice works in CAA
Art Museum in Hangzhou, and it continues until the end of November.
The exhibition makes use of the museum's 2500 m2 exhibition spaces in two floors and it includes works ranging
from large-scale kinetic, light and sound installations to objects, reliefs, silkscreen prints and
photographs. Several new installations were built at site on site-specific bases.
The exhibition is the artists first solo exhibition in China and first international contemporary art
exhibition in Shanghai after the Covid-19 pandemic which closed the city last spring. According to the museum,
Flow with Matter is also the largest solo exhibition
of a Finnish contemporary artist ever organized in China.
