Oscillators

Oscillators is one of three magnet installations made for different exhibitions. They all have the same working principle where pendulums move seemingly by themselves in a random pattern on the top of a mirror-like surface. Each stainless steel pendulum has a strong permanent magnet inside the cylinder. Underneath where gravity naturally takes the pendulum, either inside the mdf-platform or in the oil pool, is a magnet. These magnets function as sensors for magnetism and when the pendulum gets close the electronic magnet is put on. Because the polarity of the electronic magnet is the same as the permanent magnet it pushes the pendulum away. This simple phenomenon makes each pendulum function in a random way keeping the installation in a continual and unpredictable state of movement.
